Our Vision
Leva is designed to be an all terrain, autonomous legged robot to solve logistics challenges. The use of robotics is well established for various transportation tasks, however these are restricted to controlled environments with reasonably flat sur- faces. More innovative solutions are required for transport between facilities over more complicated terrain like stairs or unpaved land. We will augment the existing logistics infrastructure by developing a legged robot that carries heavy payloads in standardised containers. This has applications in construction, factories and agriculture. By combining the speed of wheels with the versatility of legs, Leva is designed to push the boundaries of automation.
Goals
lift and carry a payload container
seamlessly transition between rolling and walking
be able to integrate the robot into an autonomous logistics workflow
perform an arbitrary rotation while carrying a payload
maintain stability on uneven terrain and handle stairs
Team
We are a team of 13 passionate engineers and industrial designers from ETH Zurich, ZHAW and ZHdK with support from the Robotic Systems Lab at ETH. At the ETH Focus Rollout in May 2024, our Team will present a fully functional prototype.
